Privacy Policy

This page explains what CarrierPedia collects about visitors, and — because this site is built on a public government dataset that contains some personal information — what we deliberately exclude from that dataset before it ever reaches our database.

Analytics

We use website analytics to understand aggregate traffic patterns — which pages are visited, from which country, on which device type. This does not identify individual visitors. We do not sell visitor data, and we do not run advertising trackers on this site until the AdSense program described on our About page is active; when it is, ad-related data collection will be governed by Google's own privacy terms, disclosed at that time.

What we publish from FMCSA data

Carrier profiles on this site are built from public FMCSA datasets — see Data Sources. Where the source data identifies a business (legal name, DBA name, business address, fleet size, safety and inspection history, operating authority, insurance status), we publish it, because it describes a commercial entity operating in interstate or intrastate commerce, not a private individual.

What we never publish

The FMCSA Company Census File includes several fields we discard entirely during import — they never reach our database, let alone a page:

• Phone number, fax number, and cell phone number
• Company officer names
• Email address
• Dun & Bradstreet number

For owner-operators and other individually-registered carriers (where FMCSA's ownbusiness_org_desc field is INDIVIDUAL), the address on file is typically a home address, not a business address. In those cases we publish only the city, state, and ZIP code — never the street address.
